Options: Display
In the Display tab of the Options dialog box, you can configure the screen by selecting items to display on the screen.
Steps
To set display
- Click File > Options.
- In the Options dialog box, select the Display tab.
- In Window Select Option, select Formula and click Set.
- Type =2+3 in the cell A1 in a worksheet and press ENTER.
- The formula =2+3 instead of the result value 5 will be displayed in the cell A1.

New Workbook
- New Workbook Sheet Count
Select the number of sheets to add to a new workbook.
- Standard Font
Select a standard font for a new workbook and sheets. The new standard font will be used the next time you start Cell and create a worksheet or workbook.
- Font
Select a size for the standard font.
Display
To display or hide the formula bar or the status bar in a worksheet, select or clear the check box.
- Formula Bar
Display the formula bar. The formula bar will be displayed at the top of the worksheet.
- Status Bar
Display the status bar. The status bar displays information about the selected command or option. The status bar will be displayed at the bottom of the program window.
- Show Function Tips on Screen
Display how to enter function factors in a tip on the screen when you enter a function or edit a cell that has a function. To hide tips from the screen, clear the check box.
- Mark Cells with Circular References
Mark the cells with circular references to help you find out and locate them quickly.
- Show Selected Cell Rows
Display an accent in the row of the selected cell to emphasize the cell position.
- Show Selected Cell Columns
Display an accent in the column of the selected cell to emphasize the cell position.
- Show measurements in units of
Specify the measurement unit for thickness, length, etc. on the dialog box.
Comment
Specify how to display comments in a worksheet.
- None
Hide the comment box and the comment indicator from a cell that has a comment.
- Indicator
Display a small red triangle on the top right corner of a cell that has a comment. The comment box appears only when you place the mouse pointer on a cell that has a comment.

Display the comment box and the comment indicator for a cell that has a comment. The comment indicator is a small red triangle displayed on the top right corner of a cell.
Worksheet Select Option
Select options for displaying the active window.
- Row/Column Headings
Display row numbers on the left of the sheet and column names at the top of the sheet.
- Gridlines
Display cell gridlines. To print gridlines, select Gridline in the Sheet tab of the File > Page Setup dialog box.
- Gridline Color
You can select a gridline color from the color palette that is displayed when you click the color table.
- 0 (Zero) Value
Display 0 (zero) in a cell that has the value 0.
- Formula
Display the formula instead of the result value in a cell.
- Page Break
Display automatic page break.
- Sheet Right-to-Left
Switch the worksheet direction to place first column on the right side or left side.
Workbook Select Option
Select options for the workbook.
- Horizontal Scroll Bar
Display the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the sheet.
- Vertical Scroll Bar
Display the vertical scroll bar on the right of the sheet.
- Sheet Tab
Display a sheet tab at the bottom of a sheet.
