Themes

With the themes feature, you can create a consistent, polished document throughout the slide, with background styles, shape styles, table styles, theme colors, theme fonts, and theme effects that best match the current document.

You can use over 40 built-in themes, or customize your existing themes and save them as custom themes.

Steps

To apply different theme

  1. Select Design > Themes.
    Or on the Design tab, click the More icon () in the Themes image collection.
  2. Select a theme you want to apply the selected theme to all slides.

Themes Image Collection

Click the themes image collection to unfold 40 types of image collection grouped by Current Presentation, and Basic. If you have a custom theme, the Custom group appears.

At the bottom of the image collection, the following menu appears.

Applying theme

Click the theme in the themes image collection to apply the selected theme to all slides in the current document. Note that when you are using multiple masters, the selected theme is applied to the slides that use the same slide master.

Themes Context Menu

If you select a theme from the themes image collection and right-click it, the following context menu appears:

Menu Description Note
Apply to Matching Slides Apply the selected theme to the slides that use the same slide master. Appears in the default view state only if you are using multiple masters
Apply to All Slides Apply the selected theme to all slides in the current document.  
Apply to Selected Slides Apply the selected theme to the current slide only.  
Set as Default Theme Set the selected theme as the default theme. When you create a new document, the default theme is applied.  
Delete Delete the selected theme from the Custom group. Appears only when there is a Custom group
Apply to Selected Slide Master Apply the selected theme to the current slide master only. Appears in the slide master view only
Add as New Slide Master Add the selected theme as a new slide master. Appears in the slide master view only
