Slide Master Tab

The Slide Master tab provides frequently used functions as icons in the master view stated, such as view master, edit master, master layout, theme, background, and page setup.

Steps

To insert slide master

  1. Click View > Master Views > Slide Master.
    Or click the Slide Master icon on the View tab.
  2. The Slide Master tab appears as you switch to the slide master screen.
  3. Click the Insert Slide Master icon.
  4. A new master is added under the tree structure of the currently selected master or layout.
  5. Click the Close icon on the Slide Master tab to return to the default view state from the slide master view.
    Or you can also click the close icon (x) next to the Slide Master tab name to close the master view screen.

Slide Master Tab

Edit Master

Insert Slide Master Add a new slide master under the current master. A new slide master is added with the default theme applied.
Insert Layout Insert a custom layout under the currently selected layout. Click the drop-down button ( ) to expand 25 different layout image collection.
Delete Delete the selected slide master or layout.
You can not delete a master if there is only one master in the presentation. Also, you can not delete a master or layout if you have a master or a slide that uses layout.
Rename Change the name of the selected slide master or layout.
Preserve Master Set to preserve slide master.
If you have set to preserve masters, the master will not be lost even if there are no more slides that use that master, by clearing the slides that use that master or by following a different master.
Activated only when slide master is selected.
Clean Master Clean up unused masters.
If you clean up unnecessary masters, the total file size will be reduced and the speed of importing/exporting from Show will be faster. To clean up masters automatically when saving, set File > Options > File > Save > Clean unused slide masters when saving files.

Master Layout

Master Layout Show the Slide Master Layout dialog box to restore basic components such as title, body, date, slide number, and footer text in a slide master if they are deleted.
This icon is activated only when slide master is selected.
Insert Placeholder The mouse pointer changes to a crosshair (+) so that you can draw a placeholder. Click the drop-down button () to select the type of a placeholder.
This icon is activated only when a layout is selected.
Title Delete or restore the title placeholder in the layout.
This options is activated only when layout is selected.
Footers Delete or restore a footer placeholder which has the date, footer text, and slide number.
This options is activated only when a layout is selected.

Themes

Themes Provide the theme image collection that incorporates background styles, theme colors, theme fonts, and theme effects. Change themes from the theme image collection categorized as Current Presentation and Basic group. If you have a custom theme, the Custom group appears.
  • Browse Themes: Open the Browse Themes dialog box to import the theme file you have saved and use it.
  • Save Current Theme: Open the Save Current Theme dialog box to customize the current theme color, theme font, theme effect, and then save and use it.
Theme Colors Check the theme color currently applied to the slide or change it to another in the theme color list.
  • Create New Theme Color: Open the Create New Theme Color dialog box to customize and use your own set of theme colors.
  • Reset Slide Theme Color: Revert slide theme colors back to normal. If you change the theme color of a specific slide in your document to a different theme color than the current theme, you can revert to the original theme color.
Theme Fonts Check the theme font currently applied to the slide or change it to another in the theme font list.
  • Create New Theme Fonts: Open the Create New Theme Fonts dialog box to customize the language-specific title and body fonts.
Theme Effects Check the theme effect currently applied to the slide master or change it to another theme effect.

Background

Background Style Provide a background style image collection and a menu with variations of the theme color, brightness, saturation, and color transparency of the theme currently applied to the slide master.
  • Background Properties: Open the Background Properties task pane.
  • Reset Slide Background: If you changed the default background, revert to the default state. Enabled when you changed the default background of the layout.
  • Hide Background Graphics: Hide the background graphics object in the parent slide master or layout so that it does not appear in the layout or slide.

Page Setup

Slide Size Resize the current slide.
  • On-screen Show (4:3): Change the current slide to On-screen Show (4:3).
  • On-screen Show (16:9): Change the current slide to On-screen Show (16:9).
  • Widescreen (16:9): Change the current slide to Widescreen (16:9).
  • Page Setup: Open the Page Setup dialog box to set the paper size and orientation.

Close

Close Close the slide master screen.
