Change Half-width/Full-width |
Home > Change Text > Change Half-width/Full-width |
You can select text entered on the screen and change it to fullwidth or halfwidth text with the same meaning.
To change width of a character, it must have corresponding character codes for both fullwidth and halfwidth; the categories of such characters include numbers, English alphabets, symbols, Japanese katakana, and Korean alphabets.
All the characters within the selected block that correspond to Change What will change either to All to Halfwidth or to All to Fullwidth.
Change Half-width/Full-width cannot alter the width of all characters.
To apply Change Half-width/Full-width on a character, the character must have both fullwidth and halfwidth corresponding forms.
Therefore, the only characters that you can select using Change What are numbers, English letters, symbols, (Japanese) katakana, and Korean alphabets.
A fullwidth character generally refers to a character whose width is identical to its height. Korean, Chinese, and Japanese characters are fullwidth by default.
A halfwidth character refers to a narrow character whose width is half its height. English alphabets, numbers, and punctuation marks such as space, comma, and period are halfwidth characters by default.
When you are applying Change Half-width/Full-width, you cannot alter the width of any character in the selected block whose width cannot be changed (Korean letters, Chinese letters, etc.); only the letters designated as Change What can be changed.
